Mercat dels Encants

Mercat dels Encants is Barcelona's oldest flea and antiques market, with records placing it as far back as the 14th century, though since 2013 it has operated out of a brand-new building next to Plaça de les Glòries. The structure, designed by architects b720 and Anna & Eugeni Bach, has a huge mirrored canopy that reflects the whole market and has become a photo attraction in its own right.

Inside, hundreds of stalls mix antique furniture, vintage clothing, books, records, electronics and hard-to-classify objects, with prices ranging from bargains to collector's pieces. Haggling is a normal part of the experience, especially with private sellers.

Beyond the regular market, there's an auction area where registered buyers bid on lots each morning, a curious spectacle to watch even if you don't take part.
