Located in Port Vell, this is one of the largest aquariums in Europe dedicated to the Mediterranean world, with over 11,000 specimens spread across 35 themed tanks recreating everything from Iberian coastlines to tropical reefs.

Its main draw is the Oceanarium: an 80-metre transparent underwater tunnel you walk through while sharks, rays and schools of fish swim around and above you, just a few centimetres away.

It works very well with kids, especially thanks to the "Explora!" zone, designed for younger children with touch tanks and interactive activities. Plan for between an hour and a half and two hours for the full visit.

Buying tickets online in advance is usually cheaper than at the box office and avoids queues, especially on weekends and during high season.
