Built for the 1929 International Exposition, Poble Espanyol reproduces at full scale 117 buildings and streets representative of Spain's different regions, from a Castilian main square to Andalusian alleyways, originally intended as a temporary pavilion that ended up staying permanently.
Today it works as a venue combining architectural heritage with active craft workshops (glass, ceramics, leather), shops, restaurants and space for evening events and concerts.
It's a good option if your trip is short and you want a visual sense of Spain's architectural diversity without leaving Barcelona, though it may be less interesting for those who'll be travelling around the rest of the country anyway.
Since it's on Montjuïc, it can be combined in the same visit with Montjuïc Castle, the Fundació Joan Miró or the MNAC, all within walking distance or on the same hill's tourist bus.
