Barcelona has two separate tram networks that aren't physically connected to each other: Trambaix, to the west, linking Plaça Francesc Macià with Sant Joan Despí, Sant Just Desvern and Sant Cugat del Vallès; and Trambesòs, to the east, connecting the Fòrum and the 22@ tech district with Sant Adrià de Besòs and Badalona.
It's a mode of transport that rarely shows up in classic tourist guides, but it's very practical for anyone staying near the Fòrum or wanting to visit the Museu Blau (Natural Science Museum) without relying on a taxi. The carriages are modern, quiet, air-conditioned and fully accessible.
Like the metro and the bus, the tram is part of the ATM's integrated fare system, so the same ticket or pass works interchangeably across any of these modes within zone 1, which covers practically all the city's points of tourist interest.
