TMB's bus network complements the metro with over a hundred daytime lines, many of them organised into the so-called "Xarxa Ortogonal" (orthogonal network): vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines that are easy to memorise once you understand the system.
It's the best option for routes the metro doesn't cover directly, such as the climb up to Montjuïc (line 150 or the tourist bus), or for seeing the city above ground while crossing the Eixample. Every stop has real-time waiting-time screens, and most buses are wheelchair and stroller accessible.
At night, when the metro closes, the Nitbus network takes over, with lines departing from Plaça Catalunya to every neighbourhood and running all night on weekends. The same integrated transport pass works for bus, metro, tram and Rodalies within the same fare zone.
